An Author’s Brand—Some Helpful Hints

I’m living through silting layers of bad news recently. I worked on an essay about sources in nature that help me to make sense of my interior world and thought I’d post it here—but my essay on how to make sense of the world through writing didn’t make any sense. So—not very helpful writing hints. I’ll try again. Meanwhile, I did write this piece that was in some So Cal newspapers this Sunday. And it does have some useful information on the things a writer needs to do as well as some handy links. I hope you find it useful!

Branding, marketing: Today’s writers must do more than just put words on a page

Love the photo of the Chaffey library—memories! I am familiar with Jane Friedman. I also have gotten tips from Derek Murphy and Jerry Jenkins online. Right now I am doing an online course with Matt Tommey. It’s about thriving as a creative artist, not so much about publishing. It’s good soul/spirit work, though. I am working on my author platform; hope you will subscribe! LOL.

Yes—I love that we can develop our community! Let me know when you go live. Do you recommend Derek Murphy and/or Jerry Jenkins?

Jerry Jenkins is solid on editing/ writing. Murphy is all about cover design and platform-building/ marketing. I like the content of both, but their videos are annoying. Murphy is hyper; Jenkins can be slow.
